Pricing Systems

Pricing Systems contain specific pricing tables to be used as default pricing options in various situations. Each pharmacy has specific pricing systems which may use one pricing table as a default, another pricing table for insurance pricing, and yet another pricing table for OTC sales.

How Do I Create a Pricing System?

1.Click on the System menu item.

2.Select Pricing Systems. The Pricing System screen will open.

3.Click on the Create New Pricing System option.

To view details for a pricing system that has already been created, you can click on the magnifying glass icon to open the search field and locate one of the existing options.

4.Enter a Title for the pricing system. When you run searches for pricing systems, this title will be listed as an option.

5.In the Default Pricing field, run a search to select the appropriate pricing table. This pricing table will be used for typical scripts. (Note: If you have not yet created pricing tables, click on the System menu item and select Pricing Tables to complete the pricing setup.)

6.In the Insurance Pricing field, select the appropriate pricing table. This pricing table will be used when filling scripts with insurance.

7.In the Over-the-Counter Pricing field, select the appropriate pricing table. This option will be used for OTC items.

8.To make this system an active option in your pharmacy, mark the Active checkbox.

9.When you have entered the needed information, click on the Save button.

How Do I Set Overrides?

Individual items can be set to override a pharmacy's pricing system(s). You can set an override to be used whenever you are submitting scripts to a specific insurance company or using a specific drug. When you are filling a script that triggers an override, the override pricing will be used rather than that of the default pricing system. To set a new override:

1.In the Pricing System screen, choose the correct system from your list of options.

2.Click on the Formula Overrides tab.

3.Click on the Add New option.

4.In the Pricing Table field, search for the correct pricing table to be used as the override option.

5.If you want to trigger an override for a specific drug, search for the correct option in the Inventory field.

6.If you want to use this override for a specific insurance provider, run a search in the Insurance field and select the correct provider.

7.If you need to use this override during Checkout but not in Script Filling, mark the Use Only in Point of Sale checkbox.

8.When you have entered the needed information, click on the Save button. The chosen item will now use the pricing table that you have selected here. This setting will override the default pricing table settings for the chosen pricing system.

Formula Overrides can only be set for one item. For example, you cannot set an override to be used when a specific drug is prescribed AND the script is being submitted to a specific insurance. You can only set an override for a specific drug OR a specific insurance.
